The certification recognizes endoscopy units worldwide that employ best practices during surgery

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 14 August 2019, (AETOSWire) : Emirates Hospital - Jumeirah was recently awarded the Collaboration of Organized and Recognized Endoscopy units (CORE) certificate by the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO). Only five hospitals in the entire region received this recognition.

Through this recognition WEO is looking at reaching out to endoscopy units worldwide to improve the quality of practice of endoscopy. The certification is awarded to endoscopy departments worldwide and recognizes units performing Gastro-Intestinal endoscopy whilst adhering to the minimum criteria for endoscopy safety, covering the standards of hygiene, disinfection and the necessary training for any practice of endoscopy.

“It’s a privilege to share this recognition with some of the leading names in the healthcare industry. Our goal has always been to enhance the quality of all our services, including that of our endoscopy practice and ensure that our patients receive the best treatment facilities when they choose to operate with us. We are glad to have qualified to meet all the standards deemed appropriate to carry out effective endoscopy practices and will continue our endeavor in rising above the expectations of our patients,” said Dr George El Jammal, Specialist Gastroenterologist, Emirates Hospital – Jumeirah.

Emirates Hospital - Jumeirah, an Emirates Healthcare Company and an internationally recognized 100-bed beacon of progress in the region’s healthcare system, is among the five hospitals in the UAE to receive the CORE certification. The certification is valid for a year from the date of its issuance and can be renewed annually.

Emirates Healthcare Company owns and operates an extensive portfolio of full-service hospitals, specialty clinics, urgent care centers, aesthetic and cosmetic clinics and pharmacies.

Their endoscopy suite is designed to meet the fundamental qualities of design and safety ensuring a safe and accurate diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. A dedicated pre-procedure ensures a patient’s privacy is maintained at any given time. The disinfection area in the department is designed to directly receive used instruments from the procedure rooms, thus minimizing the risk of contamination. The sterilized endoscopies are then stored in a professional storage cupboard ensuring appropriate isolation and ventilation.

Equipped with state-of-the-art endoscopes, experts at the endoscopy department adapt the latest practices to improve diagnostic yield, including using high definition scopes for gastrointestinal procedures that allow extremely clear views and improved detection of abnormal growth in the esophagus, stomach and colon.

Some of the other endoscopy centers worldwide that received the CORE certification include France, Myanmar, Dominican Republic and China.
