(BUSINESS WIRE/AETOSWire)-- The prestigiousWorld Branding Awards, the ultimate global brand recognition accolade, saw 270brands from 33 countries named “Brand of the Year” in a glittering ceremonyheld at the State Apartments of Kensington Palace today.

Beijing Tong Ren Tang, BMW, Cartier,Club Med, JinkoSolar, Johnnie Walker, Lego, L'Oréal, Louis Vuitton, Nescafé,Rolex, Samsung, Schwarzkopf and Yakult were announced as global winners of thisedition of the awards.

National tier winners from theMiddle East included Ahli United Bank, Bahrain Duty Free, Batelco, Cineco andGulf Air from Bahrain; GIG, KEMS, NBK, Riva and Kuwait Finance House fromKuwait; Al–Maha, Bank Muscat, Muscat Pharmacy, Omantel and Pofak Oman fromOman; Al Jazeera Perfumes, Q8, Qatar Airways, QIC, QNB and WOQOD from Qatar;and ADNOC Distribution, Al Ain, BinSina Pharmacy, Centrepoint, Damas Jewellery,Du, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Mall, Emirates Gas, Emirates NBD, Etihad, Etisalatand NMC Healthcare from the UAE.

LuLu and RAK Ceramics were regionalwinners.

Winners are uniquely judged throughthree streams: brand valuation, consumer market research, and public onlinevoting. Seventy percent of the scoring process comes from consumer votes. Therecan only be one winner in each category per country.

“The Awards celebrates theachievements of some of the greatest brands around the globe. With an averageof just six winners per country, it is truly a great achievement to be a winnerof these awards,” said Richard Rowles, Chairman of the World Branding Forum.

This year, the awards were splitinto two award ceremonies, with brands from the Americas and the Caribbeanawarded in a separate New York event earlier in July. Over 230,000 consumersfrom around the world participated in the voting process.

“More than 4,500 brands from 57countries were nominated this year, with 351 brands from 49 countries declaredas winners – 81 brands from 16 countries were awarded in New York; and 270winners from 33 countries awarded in London. Not every country was awarded, asa few did not receive enough votes to qualify,” said Peter Pek, Chief Executiveof the Forum.

Now in its fifth year, the awards isorganised by the World Branding Forum, a global non-profit organisationdedicated to advancing branding standards. It organises and sponsors a range ofeducational programmes. The Forum also publishes branding news on its websitethat reaches a global audience of over 23.69 million.
