(AETOSWire)-- Kick-starting the Road Safety Awareness Campaign, which was launched yesterday by AETOSWire, the news distribution arm of NSG and the exclusive representative of Business Wire, a Berkshire Hathaway company, in MENA region; and RoadSafetyUAE, an initiative that aims to bring about safety to roads in the region, is the information drive on how motorists can better control their behavior on the road when fasting during Ramadan.

Today, Ramadan officially started and fasting already began.  Abstaining from taking in food and water for more than half of the day will take a toll on one’s physical condition and can have various effects including dehydration and changes in blood sugar levels, which can lead to fatigue, lack of concentration, delayed reaction, irritability, and mood swings.

Mr. Thomas Edelmann, Founder and Managing Director, RoadSafetyUAE shared that, “Based on statistics conducted by i-Insured, 67% of the UAE motorists overspeed because they are running late. This is precisely why, together with AETOSWire, we started the Road and Safety Awareness Campaign to equip motorists with reminders and data on how to complete this year’s Ramadan without any road accidents and casualties.”

Tony AbiHanna, President and CEO of NSG, AETOSWire, and Esmaa News added that, “Information and self-awareness are key factors that can help motorists gain control of their behavior and driving patterns on the road – the reason why we joined hands with RoadSafetyUAE in this campaign to give motorists as much information as possible to be conscious of their actions.”

Therefore, during the first week of Ramadan, AETOSWire and RoadSafetyUAE urge fasting motorists to take it easy, drive slowly, and manage their time efficiently to avoid endangering themselves and other traffic participants.

To engage in the Road Safety Awareness Campaign, use the hashtag “#HappyNotHastyRamadan” on social media.
