United Arab Emirates, 6 November 2018, (AETOSWire) : In collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, the first edition of World's Ultimate Strongman: Beasts in the Middle East took place on October 26 in the middle of the Dubai desert. Bab Al Shams Arena transformed into a full day entertainment festival ground with 15 different experiences set up to serve over 4,000 visitors, representing over 35 nationalities and flying into Dubai from all over the world, who were catered to by the professional culinary team of award – winning Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa.

Free entry for students and kids encouraged families, kids, sports fanatics, bloggers, globetrotters, athletes and music lovers to partake in an unparalleled day of exciting activities and entertainment.

The entrance of the arena was designed to the theme of Mad Max, by Last Exit, giving an authentic, raw desert entrance experience. Show features that left audiences agape included a majestic gladiator opening ceremony, the breathtaking show by the Chinese Monks of the Shaolin Temple, a roller-skating rink, inflatable obstacle course, Capoeira dancers, fire artists, amateur boxing and MMA ring and the UFC gym experience, amongst many others. The Strongman competition elements included a Truck pull, Arm over Arm vehicle pull, Atlas Stones, Press medley, Yoke walk and the Silver Dollar Deadlift.

After a jaw-dropping competition between 12 of the strongest men on the planet, Hafthor Bjornsson (aka The Mountain from Game of Thrones) was crowned as the ultimate winner, the strongest beast in the Middle East and the world who took the top prize of USD 75,000! The second position, with a USD 35,000 prize, was taken by Brian Shaw followed by Mateusz Kieliszkowski in third taking home USD 15,000.

WUS Dubai went viral online as soon as gates opened with an accumulated reach of over 2.5 million viewers tuning into the live stream, TV broadcast and social media! This never seen before spectacle has been nominated for several local and international awards in the sports innovation category.

Additionally, the debut’s success led to WUS and CMC Inc. joining forces the very next day to organize WUS China in summer 2019. The edition is to be named ‘Beasts in the Far East’ along with an official confirmation of WUS Dubai 2019 at the end of next October.
